Reading is a fundamental part of childhood and lifelong learning. At New Silksworth Academy, #WeAre determined that every pupil will learn to read, no matter of background, needs or ability. We believe that every pupil deserves a rich curriculum which encourages extensive reading of, and exposure to, a wide range of texts. It is our priority that learning to read begins right from the very start of school, and remains our focus so that our pupils quickly bcome fluent readers and can successfully gain the knowledge and skills needed to access the wider curriculum.
